Profile Bug
As with most online communities, it's best when users are filling out all the relevant information in their profiles. In the case of Talentbase, that means adding a profile picture, a short bio, and some skills.
I noticed that some users who skipped a step during onboarding would forget to come back to it, so I wanted to add a bug that would remind them to finish the process. I wanted it to be noticeable, but not obtrusive or obnoxious.
I took a page out of LinkedIn's book (oy) and added a profile completion widget that shows the remaining steps to get to 100%. There's no prize if you complete your profile — just the removal of the bug and the satisfaction of knowing that you're a participant in your online local creative community.
