Another installment of #TodayinHistory! On September 23, 1846, German astronomer Johann Gottfried Galle discovered the eighth planet at the Berlin Observatory. Galle and his assistant confirmed Neptune as a planet by noting its movement against the stars within 24 hours. Neptune orbits the sun every 165 years! ;)
