Part of the Today in History series. August 18, 1964: The IOC revoked South Africa's invitation to participate in the 1964 Olympics, after they refused to condemn racial discrimination in sport and renounce the internal ban on competition between black and white athletes. South Africa would be excluded from the Games until 1992 once Apartheid laws were repealed.
