Woodstock - #TodayinHistory August 15, 1969

Today in History August 15, 1969: A group of young, inexperienced concert promoters kicked off a music festival originally organized to raise money for a recording studio. Woodstock was almost cancelled when the city refused to host, until a dairy farmer allowed them to use 600 acres of his land in Bethel 50 miles away. What was estimated at 50,000 attendees grew to 400,000 on opening day.
