How I Designed a Food Order Trending Page (Mini Case Study)

Project Overview

The goal of this case study was to design a trending food page for a city-specific food ordering platform. The page needed to showcase the most popular and ordered dishes within a user's specified time slot.

Design Approach

To highlight the food items, I opted for a dark theme, utilizing warm tones like orange and yellow to evoke a sense of appetite. Upon entering the page, users are greeted by the "trending" tab, eliminating decision fatigue and guiding them towards the most popular choices. For those with a specific food craving, a search bar at the bottom tab allows them to filter by dish name, restaurant, or cuisine. Once a user has chosen a trending dish, they can easily add it to their cart using the "Add to Cart" button within the dish card.

Design Considerations

Color Psychology: Leveraged warm tones to stimulate appetite and enhance food appeal.

User-Centered Design: Prioritized ease of navigation and quick decision-making for users.

Visual Hierarchy: Employed a dark theme to highlight food items and create a visually appealing layout.
