36 Days Of Type 9th Edition ║ 2022

36 Days of Type is a project that invites designers, illustrators and graphic artists to express their particular interpretation of the letters and numbers of the Latin alphabet.

A yearly open call exploring the creative boundaries of letterforms, where participants are challenged to design a letter or number each day for 36 consecutive days, as a global and simultaneous act showing the outcome of the ability to represent the same symbols from thousands of different perspectives.

A project that aims to be a space for creation around typography and its endless graphic possibilities.

This was my first year participating in this mammoth of a challenge and I thoroughly enjoyed the journey. I found myself growing every step of the way as an illustrator and push my creative boundaries beyond my limits. It was an amazing experience that helped me hone my skills by exploring my profound love for geometric shapes and patterns.

In this process, I was inspired by dystopian futuristic tree figurines in a parallel plant planet. I tried to give a distinct sense of human emotion to each letter that tries to depict a particular feeling and invoke a sense of being. Be it anger, despair, happiness, affection, pride, rage or the countless other feelings we feel as human beings. I chose various elements, layouts and textures to represent these in one way or another, either in the way the letters look themselves or the way they were structured.

Finishing the whole 36 days was a colossal task and congrats to everybody who made it through. A huge thanks to everyone who loved and supported my work throughout this epic journey and I can't wait to get in again on the act next year.
